SPEECH ARTS™
Program Policies & Safeguarding™
Speech Arts policies exist because communication work can involve minors, personal stories, persuasive disagreement, recorded speaking and—in professional contexts—sensitive organizational material. Clear boundaries make serious communication development safer and more trustworthy.
Why this matters: a student should be able to find their voice without being pushed into inappropriate disclosure, and a professional should be able to prepare consequential communication without mistaking a coaching environment for permission to expose confidential third-party information.
Minors
For students under 18, a parent/guardian is the primary administrative contact. Academy-approved communication channels, documented one-to-one scheduling and appropriate parent awareness apply. Faculty do not establish private social-media relationships with minors.
Attendance & Individual Sessions
Group absences are not individually rescheduled. For eligible individual sessions, at least 24 hours’ written notice is required for rescheduling; late cancellations are forfeited except where an approved exception applies. Faculty cancellations are restored through make-up arrangements or equivalent provision.
Recording, Speaking & Student Work
BGE/BGIPA operates a recorded educational, artistic and professional environment online and in person, including private instruction. Speech, speaking, recitation, monologue, presentation, debate, interview, MasterClass, hot-seat, coaching, adjudication and other featured contributions are recorded participation under the applicable Standing Commercial Media Authorization™.
Where passive camera-off participation is available, families control a minor student’s camera, microphone, displayed name/profile and other user-controlled identifying information. Private instruction is recorded; commercial/public use of private-instruction recordings follows the separate standing private-instruction media election.
BGE may edit, excerpt, caption, reformat and extract clips from authorized material and decides whether any recording is used at all. Permission creates no right to publicity, publication, promotional exposure or screen time.
Recording & Participation Policy™
Professional Confidentiality
Professional and executive clients may bring sensitive organizational, presentation or communication material. Confidentiality expectations and appropriate handling are established for private work. Clients remain responsible for ensuring they are authorized to share third-party or organizational information.
Respectful Communication
Debate, persuasion and advocacy are taught as disciplined communication—not personal attack. Students are expected to engage respectfully with different perspectives and comply with Academy conduct standards.
Outcomes
Speech Arts develops communication and prepares individuals for real opportunities but does not guarantee competition results, admission, employment, promotion, funding, casting, investment or another third-party decision.
