The Sustainable Artist — artist health and sustainable performance

ARTIST HEALTH & SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE™

The Sustainable Artist™

Serious artistic development should expand capacity without teaching young artists to ignore the body, mind or warning signs that make continued work possible.

Sustainability is part of excellence.

Artists can learn about load, recovery, rest, practice organization, hearing and vocal stewardship, physical demands, performance schedules and when a concern belongs with an appropriately qualified health professional rather than another hour of practice.

The right expert for the right subject

The Sustainable Artist™ is designed as a specialist ecosystem. Contributors teach within their credentials and scope; no single generalist is presented as qualified to diagnose or treat every performer-health concern.

Education—not individualized healthcare

BGIPA health education does not replace medical, psychological, physiotherapy or other regulated professional care. When individualized care is needed, students and families should work with appropriate licensed professionals.

A performing life worth building should also be one the artist can sustain.
